Wedding Bands in Monmouthshire
Monmouthshire is barn-and-country-house country - Sugar Loaf and Treadam out near Abergavenny, Cefn Tilla over by Usk, the Brecon Beacons sat behind it all. We have played weddings at most of the venues on this page, and it is one corner of the wider area we cover as a wedding band across South Wales.
These are rooms built for a party - generous space, timber acoustics, and load-ins that often run straight from the van to the dancefloor. We use in-ear monitors and DI the guitar and bass to the desk, so there are no amps or wedges cluttering the stage, and we set the band to whatever the room and its sound limiter will take. The evening runs as a chilled first set taking in your first dance, then two dancefloor sets, with a DJ filling the gaps.
Looking specifically at the Abergavenny area - Sugar Loaf Barn, Treadam Barn, Sant Ffraed House and the surrounding Brecon Beacons gateway venues - there’s a dedicated page with more detail on the venues round there and how a wedding day works in each.
Premier Monmouthshire Wedding Venues
Sugar Loaf Barn, Abergavenny
Sugar Loaf Barn sits under the mountain it is named for, on a 250-acre working farm outside Abergavenny. Drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening party all happen in the one barn, so there is no shifting guests around once the day is underway.
Unique features:
- Bridal suite available Thursday to Monday for residential weddings
- Shepherds’ huts and camping facilities for adventurous guests
- 250-acre working farm with activities including kayaking, caving, climbing and hiking
- Free tractor rides to ceremony and drinks reception!
- No fixed sound limiter - the band can run at full evening volume
Why we love performing here: The layout lets us set up out of the way without disturbing your wedding breakfast, and the stage backed with hay barrels suits a barn party. All three bands love playing Sugar Loaf - especially The Apple Tree Theory, whose acoustic, folk and reggae set sits right with the rustic room.

Treadam Barn, Llantilio Crossenny
Treadam Barn is a 15th century oak-framed barn at Treadam Farm, on the Offa’s Dyke path between Monmouth and Abergavenny. Smaller and more intimate than Sugar Loaf - around 100 guests in either ceremony or banqueting layout - run by Eleanor and Leon, with on-site holiday cottage accommodation, a licensed ceremony space indoors or out in the garden, and a load-in that goes straight from the van to the dancefloor.
Why we love performing here: No sound limiter, but the building’s age means the owners ask everyone to keep things sensible - which we do happily. The original timbers in the roof give the room genuinely lovely acoustics, and the celebrations we’ve played here have been some of the most fun on the calendar. Eleanor, Leon and their team are warm, friendly and a pleasure to work with on the day.

The Barn at Brynich, Brecon
A barn conversion just outside Brecon, looking out towards the Beacons. We have played some genuinely fun weddings here - one couple were big Feeder fans, and our cover of Buck Rogers went down a storm.
Caer Llan, Monmouth
Caer Llan is a country house near Monmouth with its own grounds - a quieter, more formal alternative to the barns for couples who want a country-house feel over a working-farm one.
Cefn Tilla Court, Usk
Cefn Tilla Court is a Grade II* listed country house on a 120-acre privately owned estate at Llandenny, ten minutes outside Usk - the current building rebuilt in 1856 as a memorial to the 1st Baron Raglan. Exclusive use over the whole estate, three event spaces (the Great Hall inside the house, the Lily Pond Terrace outdoors, and the Glass Room as the covered courtyard for the evening party), flexible catering, and on-site accommodation in apartments, rooms and shepherd huts.
Why we love performing here: Van pulls up right to the Glass Room doors, kit goes straight in next to the dancefloor, no sound limiter, and the country-house pacing suits the chilled-first-set, two-dancefloor-sets shape we play.

Dewsall Court, Hereford
Just over the Monmouthshire border into Herefordshire, Dewsall Court is an exclusive-use 12-acre estate with its own party barn, lake field and ancient church on site. The Wainhouse Barn seats 170 for the wedding breakfast and absorbs up to 200 guests in the evening, with a 100dB cap and a setup that hides the band’s gear behind partition doors until dinner ends. Worth a look for Monmouthshire couples happy to cross the border.

Perfect for Rustic & Barn Weddings
Monmouthshire’s barns suit any of our line-ups, and which one fits depends on the day you want:
The Apple Tree Theory - our acoustic folk and reggae band, an easy match for a relaxed barn or countryside wedding, with a singalong feel that works through the daytime and into the evening.
The Brotherhood - the full party band, keys included, making the most of the space and the lighter sound limits a barn usually allows.
The Sisterhood - female-fronted vocals for couples who want that lead voice up top while still filling the dancefloor.
