Wedding Band Gower - South Wales’ Western Peninsula
Gower weddings are a different proposition from the rest of South Wales. The peninsula sits west of Swansea, ringed by bays - Oxwich, Three Cliffs, Rhossili - with the villages spread thinly across the heather and the wedding venues using that landscape rather than competing with it. A Gower wedding tends to be a stay-over wedding: guests come for the weekend, the venue handles the accommodation, the night doesn’t end with a taxi rank back to a city.
Below are the Gower venues we’ve put first-hand notes online for, plus what we know about how a wedding day flows out on the peninsula that’s different from a venue closer to home.
Premier Gower Wedding Venues
Fairyhill, Reynoldston
Fairyhill is a Georgian mansion on a 24-acre estate at the western end of the Gower, bought and rebuilt as a wedding venue by Oldwalls Collection and now their flagship Gower wedding venue. The K Room (Kaleidoscope) glass pavilion is the wedding party space - up to 150 in the day and 300 in the evening. Exclusive use of the estate, in-house catering from an award-winning chef team, 15 en-suite bedrooms plus apartments and a cottage on site.
Why we love performing here: Van pulls up to the K Room doors, kit goes straight in, no fitted sound limiter, and the glass walls and high ceiling give the mix space to breathe. We play it as a 5- or 6-piece most often.

Oxwich Bay Hotel, Oxwich
Oxwich Bay Hotel is the Gower’s beachfront wedding venue - Oxwich Bay running off the front of the hotel, marquee on the lawn, the Chestnut Room indoors, and a Wedding Garden for outdoor ceremonies. Up to 150 in the day and 250 in the evening, with rooms on site for the wedding party. Licensed for civil ceremonies both indoors and outdoors, and a popular choice for couples who want the bay itself as the backdrop rather than a country house or estate.

King Arthur Hotel, Reynoldston
The King Arthur Hotel sits in the same village as Fairyhill and has been doing Gower weddings for years. The Avalon banqueting hall takes 150 to 200 for an evening party, with a separate civil ceremony space for up to 140 - a more pub-with-rooms, village-centre wedding than the country-house Fairyhill experience, but a different and well-loved one. Accommodation on site, and the heart of Reynoldston village a short walk away.
How a Brotherhood wedding day works on the Gower
The Gower venues all share one logistic that matters: distance. From the Brotherhood’s home base in South Wales East, the Gower is an hour and a half on a quiet day, longer in summer Saturday traffic through Swansea. We build that into call times so the gear is loaded, line-checked and the band dressed well before guests come back from the drinks reception. Suppliers travelling from Cardiff or Newport should plan the same.
The set shape does not change for the Gower: a half-hour opener at cocktail-hour pace with your first dance inside it, then two fifty-minute sets arranged our own way, with playlists covering the gaps and running on at the end. Monitoring is in-ear, so there are no wedges across the front of the stage and nothing on stage making noise but the PA - which matters on this coast, where several of the rooms are marquees and sound travels further than you would like. The 5-piece Brotherhood or the 6-piece with sax is the standard fit out here; the K Room at Fairyhill is the one Gower room we would normally scale a bigger lineup into.
What we know that helps your Gower wedding day
A couple of things only really land once you’ve played a few weddings out here. First, on-site accommodation is more important on the Gower than at venues nearer the cities. Reynoldston and Oxwich are small villages, the taxi options at midnight are not what couples expect, and the venues with rooms on site are the ones where the wedding party actually carries on into Sunday breakfast rather than dispersing at 11pm. Book the on-site accommodation blocks early - they go a long way out.
Second, the weather is more weather here. The Gower sits exposed on three sides; what’s forecast as “showers” in Cardiff at 11am tends to be horizontal rain at Rhossili by 3pm. If your venue has an outdoor ceremony option, plan the indoor backup at the same time you plan the outdoor one rather than as an afterthought - the Gower venues are practiced at the flip, but everyone’s calmer if it’s a known fallback rather than a decision made at 1pm.
Other areas we cover
Gower weddings often overlap with our wider South Wales wedding work - couples comparing Fairyhill against Hensol Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, the Chairman’s Marquee at Celtic Manor at Newport, or Sant Ffraed House on the Abergavenny side of Monmouthshire. Not seeing your venue? Send us the details. Chances are we’ve played it, or somewhere very similar nearby.

Booking a Wedding Band in the Gower
How much does a wedding band cost on the Gower?
The Gower is the far end of our patch - an hour or so west of Newport - and the quote reflects the lineup, the date and the run out to the peninsula.
Tell us the venue and date and we’ll price it properly rather than guess.
What size band suits a Gower venue?
The K Room at Fairyhill takes up to 300 in the evening and will carry a full lineup. Oxwich Bay and the King Arthur sit comfortably around six or seven.
The van pulls up to the K Room doors and the kit goes straight in, which is not something you can say about most venues of that quality.
Do Gower weddings run differently to the rest of South Wales?
They do, and it changes the evening for the better. A Gower wedding tends to be a stay-over wedding - guests come for the weekend, the venue handles the accommodation, and the night does not end with everyone watching for a taxi back into a city.
That usually means a fuller floor later on, so we hold the bigger numbers back rather than spending them early.
