A Georgian mansion at the top end of the Gower Peninsula, now run by Oldwalls Collection with the K Room as the wedding party space. The K Room is the glass-and-steel function building added to the back of the house: dancefloor in the middle, glass walls and roof, the Gower estate running off in every direction. Guests stay on site, the dancefloor opens onto the gardens, and the night doesn’t end with a fleet of taxis trying to find Reynoldston in the dark.
Fairyhill at a glance
A Grade II listed Georgian mansion on a 24-acre estate at Reynoldston, at the western end of the Gower Peninsula. Bought and rebuilt as a wedding venue by the Oldwalls Collection, who also run Sant Ffraed House near Abergavenny - the two flagship Oldwalls wedding venues that the Brotherhood plays across. The K Room (Kaleidoscope) is the function space: a purpose-built glass pavilion taking up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast and around 300 in the evening. Exclusive use of the whole estate as standard, in-house catering from an award-winning chef team, and 15 en-suite bedrooms plus apartment suites and a cottage on site so the wedding party can stay over. Walled garden, woodland and lakes in the grounds. Address is Fairyhill, Reynoldston, Swansea SA3 1BS.
Setting up at Fairyhill
The K Room is at the back of the house with vehicle access up to the door. Van pulls up, kit goes straight in onto the floor, we set up next to the dancefloor. Easy load-in, no carry through the house, no stairs.
We bring our own PA and lighting and run in-ears - no floor wedges. There’s no fitted sound limiter, so we play at the level the room actually wants rather than nursing a dB meter. The K Room is glass on most sides with a high ceiling, so the mix has space to breathe rather than building up in corners; it’s a room that takes a real party volume comfortably.
Recommended band size at Fairyhill
We play the K Room most often as a 5-piece or 6-piece - vocals/guitar/bass/drums as the core, with keys or sax on top depending on the booking. That’s the sweet spot for the room and for the kind of wedding it tends to host: exclusive use, 100 to 150 in the day, dancefloor full but not stadium scale. The K Room would take a bigger configuration for the right party, but in practice the 5- or 6-piece is what lands here.
How a wedding day flows at Fairyhill
Ceremony in the K Room or out in the grounds, drinks reception across the gardens and the walled garden when the weather plays, wedding breakfast in the K Room, then evening into the dancefloor with the glass walls behind the band. Exclusive use over the whole estate means the day is paced by the couple and the Oldwalls team rather than a second wedding turning over behind you.
Our usual wedding shape: a chilled first set of around 30 minutes, first dance and any formal dances in there, more of a cocktail-hour feel - then two 50-minute dancefloor sets blended together in our own style. DJ playlists fill the gaps between, and after we finish.
What we know that helps your day
A couple of things worth knowing about a wedding at this end of the Gower. First, on-site accommodation matters more here than at venues nearer the cities. Reynoldston is a small village on the western Gower; once your evening’s over, there isn’t a taxi rank round the corner and the drive back into Swansea or Mumbles is a real one in the dark. Block-book the on-site bedrooms and the cottage early - they go a long way out. Second, plan band and supplier travel from east of Swansea with extra time. From Cardiff or Newport you’re looking at the far side of Swansea then the length of the Gower, which is longer than the map suggests, particularly in summer traffic. We allow for it; budget the same for any supplier with a hard arrival deadline.
Wedding venues near Fairyhill we also play
The other Oldwalls Collection wedding venue we work is Sant Ffraed House over near Abergavenny, the same in-house chef team behind both. Across South Wales more broadly we’re at Hensol Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, the Chairman’s Marquee at Celtic Manor at Newport, Sugar Loaf Barn over in the Brecon Beacons, and venues across Monmouthshire and the borders. If you’re choosing between Fairyhill and another local venue, ask - chances are we’ve played both.
The Brotherhood are South Wales’ premier wedding band. Check our availability for your date at Fairyhill.
