Wedding Band at Fairyhill, Gower

Fairyhill wedding band - The Brotherhood for your wedding at this Georgian mansion venue on the Gower Peninsula near Swansea, South Wales.

A Georgian mansion at the top end of the Gower Peninsula, now run by Oldwalls Collection with the K Room as the wedding party space. The K Room is the glass-and-steel function building added to the back of the house: dancefloor in the middle, glass walls and roof, the Gower estate running off in every direction. Guests stay on site and the dancefloor opens onto the gardens.

Fairyhill at a glance

A Grade II listed Georgian mansion on a 24-acre estate at Reynoldston, at the western end of the Gower Peninsula. Bought and rebuilt as a wedding venue by the Oldwalls Collection, who also run Sant Ffraed House near Abergavenny - the two flagship Oldwalls wedding venues that the Brotherhood plays across. The K Room (Kaleidoscope) is the function space: a purpose-built glass pavilion taking up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast and around 300 in the evening. Exclusive use of the whole estate as standard, in-house catering from an award-winning chef team, and 15 en-suite bedrooms plus apartment suites and a cottage on site so the wedding party can stay over. Walled garden, woodland and lakes in the grounds. Address is Fairyhill, Reynoldston, Swansea SA3 1BS.

Setting up at Fairyhill

The K Room is at the back of the house with vehicle access up to the door, so the kit goes straight in onto the floor and we set up beside the dancefloor. Nothing goes through the house and there are no stairs.

We supply the PA and the lighting rig, and monitor on in-ears rather than putting wedges along the stage front. There’s no fitted sound limiter, so we set the level to the room. Glass on most sides and a high ceiling means the K Room takes a real party volume without anything piling up in the corners.

Most Fairyhill weddings run 100 to 150 in the day, and we come as a 5-piece or 6-piece - two vocals, guitar, bass and drums, with keys or a second guitar making the five and a sax or another vocal the six. With up to 300 in for the evening and no fitted limiter, though, this is one of the few Gower rooms where a bigger lineup earns its keep rather than filling the stage.

How a wedding day flows at Fairyhill

Ceremony in the K Room or out in the grounds, drinks reception across the gardens and the walled garden when the weather plays, wedding breakfast in the K Room, then evening into the dancefloor with the glass walls behind the band. Exclusive use across the estate means the pacing comes from you and the Oldwalls team, with nothing turning over behind you.

The music runs in three parts: a relaxed opening half-hour holding your first dance, then two fifty-minute sets arranged our own way, with playlists between and after.

The room shapes how we pitch it. Glass absorbs almost nothing, so it gives back more than a stone room does, and once it’s dark outside the band is backlit against the walls - the lighting rig does more work here than usual.

Beds and drives at the far end of the Gower

On-site accommodation matters more here than at venues nearer the cities. Reynoldston is a small village on the western Gower; once your evening’s over, there isn’t a taxi rank round the corner and the drive back into Swansea or Mumbles is a real one in the dark. Block-book the on-site bedrooms and the cottage early; they go a long way out.

Plan band and supplier travel from east of Swansea with extra time. From Cardiff or Newport you’re looking at the far side of Swansea then the length of the Gower, which is longer than the map suggests, particularly in summer traffic. We allow for it; budget the same for any supplier with a hard arrival deadline.
