Wedding Band at Cefn Tilla Court | The Brotherhood

Cefn Tilla Court wedding band - The Brotherhood for your wedding at this Grade II* listed country house and 120-acre estate near Usk, Monmouthshire.

Turn off the lanes outside Usk, drive in through the gates, the house sits at the top of the estate with the lily-pond gardens in front and Monmouthshire countryside in every direction. The evening party room is the Glass Room - the enclosed courtyard at the back of the house, glass overhead, walled on all sides. Load-in is one of the easier ones in our area: van right up to the door, kit straight in, set up next to the dancefloor while drinks are still going outside.

Cefn Tilla Court at a glance

A Grade II* listed country house on a 120-acre privately owned estate in Llandenny, ten minutes outside Usk. The current house was rebuilt in 1856 by Thomas Henry Wyatt as a memorial to the 1st Baron Raglan - so a building with proper Crimean-era weight to it, but run today as a working wedding venue rather than a museum. Used exclusive-use for weddings, with three main event spaces: the Great Hall inside the house (up to 80 for an intimate breakfast), the Lily Pond Terrace outside (up to 170 for an outdoor ceremony or reception), and the Glass Room - the newer covered courtyard at the back that does most of the evening party work. Catering is flexible - bring your preferred caterer or work from their recommended list. On-site accommodation in apartments, rooms in the main house and shepherd huts in the grounds, so the whole wedding party can stay over. Address is Cefntilla, Llandenny, Usk NP15 1DG.

Setting up at Cefn Tilla Court

The Glass Room is at the back of the main house with vehicle access right up to the door. We pull the van up, unload onto the floor and set up next to the dancefloor. No carry through the house, no service-corridor route, no lift. After a venue like Hensol where the courtyard carry is half the load-in time, Cefn Tilla is a fast set-up - which matters when the schedule’s tight and you want gear in and dressed before guests come back inside from the terrace.

We bring our own PA and lighting and run in-ears - no floor wedges. There’s no fitted sound limiter, so we play at the level the room actually wants rather than nursing a dB meter on the wall. The Glass Room is enclosed but not boxy - the height of the glass roof gives the mix some space to breathe rather than building up in the corners.

We play the Glass Room most often as a 5-piece or 6-piece - vocals/guitar/bass/drums as the core, with keys or sax on top depending on the booking. That’s the sweet spot for the room and for the kind of wedding party Cefn Tilla tends to host - 80 to 130 guests, country-house pacing, dancefloor full but not stadium-scale. The room would take a bigger configuration if the brief called for it, but in practice the 5- or 6-piece is what lands here.

How a wedding day flows at Cefn Tilla Court

Ceremony out on the Lily Pond Terrace when the weather plays, or inside the Great Hall when it doesn’t. Drinks reception across the gardens, wedding breakfast in the Great Hall or the Glass Room depending on numbers, then evening into the Glass Room with the courtyard flipped for dancing. Exclusive use over the estate means the venue isn’t turning a second wedding over behind you - the pace is yours.

Our usual wedding shape: a chilled first set of around 30 minutes, first dance and any formal dances in there, more of a cocktail-hour feel - then two 50-minute dancefloor sets blended together in our own style. DJ playlists fill the gaps between, and after we finish.

What we know that helps your day

A couple of things worth knowing. The Glass Room is a different beast from a hotel ballroom or a barn - glass roof, walled courtyard, plenty of natural light during the day and a more enclosed feel at night. It suits a slower-burn wedding shape: long drinks reception outside, dinner in the Great Hall, evening migration into the Glass Room rather than the whole day being run from a single room. Worth talking to your photographer about both the late-afternoon Lily Pond Terrace shots and the band-and-glass-roof shots once the room’s full and the sky’s gone through the glass. And the on-site accommodation is a real asset - guests staying on the estate means a softer finish to the night than the usual taxi-ranks-back-to-town scramble.

Wedding venues near Cefn Tilla Court we also play

We play wedding venues all over Monmouthshire and South Wales more broadly - Treadam Barn and Sugar Loaf Barn out towards Abergavenny, the Chairman’s Marquee at Celtic Manor down the M4 at Newport, Chepstow Racecourse over towards the Severn. If you’re choosing between Cefn Tilla and another local venue, ask - chances are we’ve played both.
