An afternoon slot at the Abergavenny Food Festival, played as a duo, filmed in 2014.
Outdoor daytime playing is its own discipline. There is no room acoustic to help you, the audience is walking past rather than sitting down, and half of them are holding food. Nothing carries. What works is material people recognise within a couple of bars and a delivery that is warm rather than loud, because volume outdoors just disappears.
It is one of the few songs that turns up across more than one of our bands, in arrangements with almost nothing in common. Most material suits one setup and sounds wrong in the others.
Abergavenny is about half an hour north of our base in Newport, and Monmouthshire is home territory for us - a lot of our marquee and garden party work is within twenty miles of here.
