The Apple Tree Theory started as an experiment in taking songs a long way from where they began, and this is the clearest example of it.
You Spin Me Round is a piece of 1985 hi-NRG - all drum machine and synth, built for a nightclub. Pulled apart and rebuilt acoustically it turns out to have a genuinely good song underneath, and one with a much darker edge than the original production suggests. Slowing it down and putting it on strings changes the meaning of it entirely.
This is the trick the band exists for. It is not an acoustic covers act playing quiet versions of the same songs everyone else plays - the point is to make people hear something familiar as if for the first time, which is why it works for the parts of a wedding day where a dancefloor band would be wrong.
