11-Piece Showband
November 2022Newbridge Memo
This is the top end of what we do. Eleven pieces - full rhythm section, horns, multiple lead vocalists - filmed at the Memo in November 2022.
The honest thing to say about a lineup this size is that most events do not need it. A five or six-piece fills a wedding dancefloor perfectly well, and in a low-ceilinged function room an eleven-piece is loud, expensive and cramped. Where it earns its money is a big room with the space to take it: awards nights, large Christmas balls, anything where the band is meant to be the event rather than the soundtrack to it.
What changes with the horns is not volume, it is weight. A three-piece horn section playing the right stabs makes a room feel fuller at the same decibel level, and it means the arrangements can move - you can drop everything to a vocal and a snare and then bring eleven people back in, which is not an option with five.
We scale between five and eleven depending on the room and the budget, and we are straight with people about which end suits their event. If you are looking at this and thinking it is too much, the Kitchen Sessions are a better guide to the other end of the range.
Filmed at Newbridge Memo, which is one of the few rooms near us with the floor space and the height to take this lineup properly.
