The Lockdown Sessions
Three songs The Brotherhood recorded remotely during the 2020 lockdown, with every part tracked separately at home across South Wales.
In March 2020 the diary emptied in about four days. Weddings moved, corporate nights cancelled, and a band whose entire job is standing in a room with other people had nothing to stand in.
So we recorded apart. Each part tracked at home to a reference, sent on, and assembled. Anyone who has tried it knows how unnatural it is - you lose the thing that makes a band a band, which is six people reacting to each other in real time. You end up playing to a version of the song that has not been finished yet.
Three songs came out of it. They are not our slickest work and the picture quality reflects six different kitchens and spare rooms, but they are honest about a strange year, and putting them together kept the band in one piece when there was no other reason to speak every week.
We started playing live again in summer 2021.
