Five songs cut together from a night at Celtic Manor in 2017 - Basket Case, Summer of 69, 24K Magic, Bare Necessities and Teenage Dirtbag.
That list looks random and it is not. It is a fairly precise illustration of what a function band set actually has to cover in one evening: nineties pop punk, eighties stadium rock, modern funk, a Disney number and a novelty singalong, all inside about twenty minutes of a real set. A band that only does one of those well is a band that loses half the room for a chunk of the night.
The reason we film at Celtic Manor is scale. The ballrooms there take the full showband without the stage looking crowded, and the room is big enough that you can hear what a horn section is actually for. In a smaller function room the same lineup is overkill and we would not suggest it.
Worth setting against the phone footage from the 2014 Christmas ball at the same resort - same band, same rooms, two and a half years apart.
