The Kitchen Sessions

Set up in a kitchen, play the song once, keep whatever happens. That has been the rule since 2015.

The first run came out of a practical need - we had a group of new vocalists coming into the band and wanted to hear how they actually sounded with no production helping. A kitchen is a hard room to play in. Tiled floor, hard surfaces, nothing to soak up the sound, no PA. There is nowhere to hide a weak vocal or a lazy arrangement, which is exactly why it works on camera.

We went back and did it again in 2019 with a different set of songs and a different group of singers, and that second run is where most of the recent material came from. Nine songs between them now, and a third run is being filmed.

These are still the videos people quote back at us, and they are the honest answer to what we sound like with the PA switched off. If you are booking us for a ceremony or a drinks reception rather than a dancefloor, this is the closest thing to it.
