The Brotherhood Jazz Trio - jazz reworkings of pop and rock songs for drinks receptions, wedding breakfasts and dinner sets across South Wales.
The trio came out of a practical problem. Couples kept asking what we could do for the bit of the day before the dancing - drinks reception, wedding breakfast, the hour where a full band with drums would flatten the conversation.
The answer was to strip back to guitar, upright feel and voice, and rework songs people already know as jazz. Not standards. The trick that makes it land is taking something recognisable and putting it somewhere unexpected, so guests half-hear it, work out what it is, and enjoy the moment of recognition.
These four videos are from 2014 and they remain, by a wide margin, the most-watched things on our channel. The arrangement of My Favourite Things alone has been watched close to a hundred thousand times, mostly by people who are not booking a band at all. That is fine by us.
The trio works as a standalone booking or as the early part of a day that ends with the full band.
