Tuesday night took us up the M5 to Eastington Park, the Georgian house near Stonehouse just off Junction 13.
We played our short first set with the first dance in it - “Carry Me Home” by Alex Warren, which has come round a few times for us in the last couple of years. Then the room broke for evening food. The couple had a mobile pizza oven brought in, so most of the guests went outside to it.
That break is where the plan changed. The usual shape after food is two dance sets with a gap in the middle, and on a Tuesday, with a crowd that had already been outside for over forty minutes, a second gap looked like the point we’d lose them. So we ran the rest of the night as one long set instead. Nobody sat down. It is not the right answer everywhere, but with the food break already doing the job of an interval, one continuous run held the floor better than two shorter ones would have.
